Keep your threads?

You know the gunk that forms around the mouth of your tubes or jars of paint?   Those are the threads I'm talking about.

Did you know that not removing those threads can actually decrease the lifespan of your Acrylic Paint?

According to Golden Paints acrylic paint drys through water evaporating out of your paint so if you leave those threads around the mouth of the jar you actually allow air to sneak into your jar through tiny cracks created by the threads between the lid and the mouth of the jar which causes your paint to dry out.

I never thought anything of it but totally makes sense.

My Paint Palette

According to Golden Paints they suggest removing any threads off the mouth of your opened bottles or jars the next time you use your paint just wipe the mouth of the jar before you put the lid back on to create a tight seal for your containers which will keep moisture from escaping by keeping air out of your jars and tubes of paint which will in turn keep your paint from drying out.

I need to say this because I'm not an oil painter this only applies to acrylic paint I have no idea if this also happens with oils.  But if you do know... let me know because I would find any info on oil paints useful.

I am not sponsored by Golden Paint although I should be hahaha because I only use their products and I'm always talking about how great their products are.  Just saying.

Thanks for visiting.
